    The Minutes of the Council Meeting for 10 October 1935 recorded that three essays had been received for the Universities Prize Essay Competition and that these had been sent to the Committee for examination. In the Minutes fir 14 November, the winner, Evan Glyndwr Jones was recorded alongside the decision to present his prize at the General Meeting on 12 December 1935. The Committee for the following year was also appointed.
    In the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society 1936 (3), p.558 in the Report of the Anniversary General Meeting it was recorded that the Universities Prize Essay Competition had been wond by Mr Evan Glyndwr Jones of Bristol University.
