Letter from Richard Clarke, Secretary, to Don Joachim José da Costa de Macedo, Secretary of Royal Academy of Sciences, Lisbon, regarding a text from the Portuguese historian, Diego de Conto, which is a translation of an inscription from the Elephanta Cave on an island near Bombay. It is suggested that the original inscription may be in the museum of Royal Asiatic Society, or in Lisbon or in some of the colleges of Coimbra. An impression or cast may be taken or alternatively a 'rubbing' of the inscription. (Found on page 139)
