Letter from unknown creator (but possibly Theophilus Goldridge Pinches) to a prospective publisher, writing at the request of Aristide Marre with a view to having the work published. He explains that the translation has been undertaken by Mrs Pinches and that he believes the work would be a useful introduction for beginners in the study of language of the Philippines. The letter is unsigned.

It appears that the Tagalog-French entries were probably provided by Marre and the English translations by Isabelle Pinches. This is written on the reverse of pages cut from French Gas bills, dating from 1900 to 1906.
