              Two letters concerning a gift from the Society on the 40th anniversary of her accession and concerning her withdrawal of patronage. These are:

Bivar, President, Royal Asiatic Society, to thank the Society, on behalf of the Queen, for the letter and the Catalogue of the Art Collection of the Society sent to Her Majesty on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of her Accession.               • Letter from Simon Gimson, Buckingham Palace, to Lydia Collins, Secretary to Royal Asiatic Society, to inform, that with considerable regret the Queen has decided that her Patronage must draw to a close. She wishes to give time for them to find a new Patron so will withdraw her Patronage from the beginning of 2000. She has raised the matter with the Prince of Wales, the Society's Vice-Patron and he would be delighted to accept the Patronage if this is what the Society would like to request.
