              In 1993 the first Denis Sinor Medal was awarded to Professor Sir Harold Bailey. The award was presented to him in Cambridge on 19 May 1993 by the President of the Society. The archival material contains correspondence and administrative documents concerning the award.

              The Denis Sinor Medal was awarded to Nicholas Sims-Williams in 2015. The administrative material is still held in current records. However there are five digital photographs of Sims-Williams giving his lecture at the Society's premises in Stephenson Way, and of the presentation of the Medal to him by Dr Gordon Johnson, President, Royal Asiatic Society. This event took place on 13 May 2016.

              The Denis Sinor Medal was inaugurated in 1993 by Professor Denis Sinor, specifically to honour scholars in the field of Inner Asian Studies. He donated a sum of money at the initiation of the award and more was bequeathed after his death.
