'Copy of a letter from Capt. Gill, addressed to Col. Sykes, dated at Adjuntah, 16 October, 1849' in which he writes of his concern that his paintings had not arrived when Sykes had written to him. He has continued to copy the cave paintings and writes of those and inscriptions. He also writes concerning Professor Wilson's remarks upon his paintings and of some things Wilson seems to have missed.

Copy of a letter from Brian Houghton Hodgson to Sir Rutherford Alcock in which he talks of meeting Alcock at a mutual friend's, Dr Jackson, and their conversation on matters such as Nepal and Pekin. Hodgson would like to talk with Alcock cnocerning the Russia situation and writes when he will be available after his visit to Dr Hooker at Kew. Hodgson writes about the possibilities of trade between the Himalayan countries and China. Handwritten (not in Hodgson's hand), 8 sides, dated 10 March 1873.

Hodgson writes that at the Society of Arts meeting he wished that Forsyth had given him some hint that he would be called upon to speak. Hodgson continues to write concerning Central Asia. Grant Duff in which he thanks Duff for his note and to inform Grant Duff that subsequent to his last letter he has had a meeting with Rutherford Alcock and would therefore like to talk further with Grant Duff upon the subject. Hodgson thanks Grant Duff for being in contact with Lord Northbrook and again expounds concerns regarding Tibet and Eastern Turkestan.
