Sans titreLetter from James R. Ballantyne to Brian Houghton Hodgson. Ballantyne thanks Hodgson for his two letters with their explanations and reassures him that Hodgson's work on Buddhist architecture is safe, apologising for not acknowledging it sooner. He will return Hodgson's when he has copied the Manuscript notes into a copy he has been able to find. He also apologises for not explaining himself clearly and continues to a more detailed explanation of Bapu Deva's speculations. Handwritten, 4 sides, dated 26 August 1851.
Sans titreLetter from George Ramsey, Resident Nepal, to Brian Houghton Hodgson. The purpose of the letter is to send Hodgson an extract from the Register of Pluviameter kept at Kathmandu of the rainfall from 1851-1855 which is on a separate sheet. He also writes that Jung Bahadur is delighted to have settled the dispute. A promising coal has been discovered and Jung Bahadur hopes to get somebody to show him how to work it though the Resident thinks it may be unprofitable. Handwritten, 3 sides, dated 12 May 1856, plus additional sheet with rainfall measurements.
Sans titreLetter from Joseph Barnard Davis to Brian Houghton Hodgson, 11 April 1859. Davis apologies for not replying sooner. They have come to the country for a few days to try to help relieve Mrs Davis' spasms of the stomach. He writes about collecting ethnological data and will go to the British Museum to see some of the heads. He had seen Schlginhbeit's casts when they were exhibited by Colonel Sykes. Davis writes of a letter he has received from a friend in the Sandwich Isles who is a geologist and a little of an ethnologist. Davis continues with more ethnological discussion. Handwritten, 4 sides with accompanying envelope, dated 11 April 1859.
