The article covers Serpent and Tree Worship within the Buddhist religions. This article has been annotated by Hodgson as has the following article on "Early travellers in India". There is a further cutting with review of the book "Buddhism: Its Historical, Theoretical and Popular Aspects in Three Lectures" By Ernest J. Eitel. Hodgson has added title and annotation.
