The Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland was founded by the eminent Sanskrit scholar Sir Henry Thomas Colebrooke on the 15th March 1823. It received its Royal Charter from King George IV on the 11th August 1824 'for the investigation of subjects connected with and for the encouragement of science, literature and the arts in relation to Asia'. It continues as a forum for those who are interested in the languages, cultures and history of Asia to meet and exchange ideas.

- Letter from RAS Secretary to Kenneth Ballhatchet to ask if he would give his opinion on the essay, "British application of the Aryan theory of race to India, 1850-1870". Typed, 1 side, dated 16 December 1971.
- Letter from Kenneth Ballhatchet to Diana Crawford, RAS Secretary to write that he considers the essay sent to be a work of scholarship and originality and he would recommend it being awarded the Prize. Typed with handwritten postscript, 1 side, dated 12 January 1972.
