Letter from R. Levy to C.A. Storey to discuss the question of Brill being a co-publisher. He suggests Raynes should know when and why the original arrangement was ended but that it might be beneficial to have someone on the continent to distribute their volumes. He also writes that he is writing to Luzac to find out which of the Ellis books remain unsold.

Letter from W.L. Raynes, Clerk to the Trust, to C.A. Storey to enclose a letter from Dr. K. Jahn to which he is sure the Trust will be sympathetic. He asks Storey as to how to direct Luzac in complying with Kahn's request. With this letter is a copy, in Storey's hand, of the letter from Jahn in which he writes that he has found a provisional home in Holland and asks for some copies of his books and maybe others of the Gibb Memorial Series having lost his house, family and books in the war.

Letter from University Press, Cambridge, to C.A. Storey to inform that due to the agreement to increase wages and reduce hours of work in the printing industry the Press must increase its charges for composition, presswork and binding. He is unsure how this will affect Kitāb al-Tashbīhāt but will inform when this is known. On this letter Storey has written a copy of his reply in which Storey writes that he had assumed that there would be an increase in cost but is trying to minimise this by copying as much as possible of the manuscript in his own hand to increase the legibility.

Letter from E.G. Raynes, Clerk to the Trust, to C.A. Storey to inform him that instructions have been given to send presentation copies of Kitāb al-Tashbīhāt to Drs Ritter and Bernhard Lewin as well as to the University Library, Uppsala. He writes that Professor Levy thinks the trustees will let Dr A. Mu'id Khan have ten copies and have instructed Raynes to arrange this. He also writes that the liquidators of the Central Uruguay Railway Company are liquidating their ordinary stock As a nominee, Raynes requires Storey's signature for the discharge (see GMT/2/2/49). He states that the questions of transferring stock into other names will be considered at the next Annual Meeting.

The 23rd International Congress of Orientalists was held in Cambridge in 1954. The material connected with this Congress includes correspondence concerning organising and finance of the Congress, correspondence regarding attendance, General programme, correspondence regarding the publication of the Proceedings of the Conference and a further research enquiry.

• Letter from Denis Sinor, Organising Committee, to Mrs Davis, Royal Asiatic Society, concerning leaflets advertising the Congress and her offer of help for the Congress. Typed, dated 21 July 1954.
• Letter from Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to the Permanent Under-Secretary of State, to confirm Meer S. Basri's attendance at the Congress. Typed, dated 22 July 1954.
• Letter from Vivian Gaster to Royal Asiatic Society to ask to become a member of the Congress. Handwritten, dated 1 August 1954.
• Letter from Meer S. Basri to Mrs Davis, Royal Asiatic Society, to inform that he has obtained his visa. Handwritten, dated 16 August 1954.
• Letter from President, Royal Asiatic Society, to delegates at the Congress to invite them to become members of the Royal Asiatic Society. Typed, undated.
