Most of the letters cover a time period from 1972-1976 and are concerned with the possible publication of "Old Tehran" in Iran. There is a further postcard from 2003 in which Cloake is asked for a copy of the Manuscript.

- Letter from Grenville Pullen, Office of the Mayor, Tehran to John Cloake suggesting the Iranian National Tourist Board might be the right organisation to publish the book. Dated 7 September, 1972
- Letter from Desmond Harney, Iranian Diplomat, to John Cloake concerning his visit to Faraneh at the Iranian National Tourist Organisation to leave a copy of the manuscript of the book. Dated 22 September 1972
- Letter from Desmond Harney to John Cloake saying that the Queen was pleased with the book and is happy for Cloake to publish it in England or via the Iranian Government subject to revision by Mr Foroughi. Dated 2 February 1973
- Draft letter from John Cloake to "Your Excellency" concerning more details with regard to revisions that might occur, undated.
- Letter from Desmond Harney to John Cloake concerning whether to publish in England or Iran. dated 15 April 1973.
- Letter from Desmond Harney to John Cloake concerning retrieval of the Manuscript from the Iranian Palace and photocopying of the maps that Cloake needs. dated 17 May 1973.
- Letter from Desmond Harney to John Cloake concerning the progress towards an agreement re publishing the book. Dated 21 May 1973.
- Letter from Desmond Harney to John Cloake concerning a conversation he had with Karim Pasha Bahadori, Private Secretary, Imperial Court, regarding the publication, dated 16 September 1973 and a typed copy of the letter sent to Bahadori in response to the telephone conversation. dated 15 September,1973.
- Letter from Desmond and Judy Harney to John and Mollie Cloake bringing news of possible further developments in publication. Dated 27 December, 1974.
- Letter from Desmond Harney to John Cloake to share that the master Manuscript is now with Homayoun Bahadori and that he has also had the manuscript assessed by an English journalist who had suggested making it as a pocket guide. Dated 11 January 1976.
- Letter from Desmond Harney to John Cloake to accompany a copy of the manuscript. dated 18 February 1976. He encloses a copy of a letter to Muhammad Moghadam, Imperial Organisation for Social Services, Tehran, in which he sets out terms for publication. Dated 16th February 1976.
- Copy of a letter from Desmond Harney to Muhammad Moghadam concerning the Ministry's support for the project and the use of a freelance journalist for editing and preparing the manuscript. Dated 9 March 1976.
- Copy of a letter from Muhammad Moghadam to Desmond Harney responding to the letter he sent. Dated 3 March 1976.
- Letter from Desmond Harney to John Cloake to congratulate him on his appointment to Sofia, Bulgaria. He writes that he has had confirmation that Old Tehran will be published. Dated 3 October 1976.
- Postcard from Faihad Diba to John Cloake asking for a copy of the Manuscript to be added to his library of books and other material on Persia. With accompanying envelope. Dated 10th February 2003.
