Biographical history

Samuel G.T. Heatley (more commonly known as Heatly) was a member of the Asiatic Society of Bengal, serving as one of its secretaries in 1847. He was a geologist and contributed articles to the Society's Journal.

The manuscript was prepared for S.G.T. Heatly.

According to a list in a guard book concerning the collections, this volume and its companion were presented to the Royal Asiatic Society by Mr S. Heatly.

The second volume of two containing a handwritten copy of the Daśabhūmīśvara transcribed from a Calcutta manuscript under the supervision of Harinōhana Vidyābhūsana for Samuel G.T. Heatly (Heatley). Unfortunately the first volume is now missing from the collections. The volume has brown marbled cover and is in good condition.

    A guard book, listing the Collections, provided the identifying and provenance details. Presumably these were taken from the first volume of the manuscript which is now missing. The guard book is available in the Society's Reading Room.
