Simmonds, President of Royal Asiatic Society, to express the great honour in being proposed as the Gold Medal recipient but that he feels unable to accept the medal as he is only partly through his work. He also does not want the distraction of preparing a lecture and therefore declines that opportunity too. Typed, dated 15 July 1974.
