The Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland was founded by the eminent Sanskrit scholar Sir Henry Thomas Colebrooke on the 15th March 1823. It received its Royal Charter from King George IV on the 11th August 1824 'for the investigation of subjects connected with and for the encouragement of science, literature and the arts in relation to Asia'. It continues as a forum for those who are interested in the languages, cultures and history of Asia to meet and exchange ideas.

- Letter from Herries, Farquhar and Co., concerning an investment made on behalf of the Society, 1 piece, dated 22 July 1884.
- Receipts and certificates for investments from Herries, Farquhar and Co., 4 pieces, dated 22- 24 July 1884.
- Letter from Herries, Farquhar and Co., concerning an investment made on behalf of the Society and the consolidation certificate, 2 pieces, dated 18 May 1885.
- Letters from Edward Colebrooke (Sir Thomas Edward Colebrooke, 4th Baronet) to T.W. Rhys Davids, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, concerning potential investment and the powers of the trustees. Three letters, dated 6, 8, 18th April [1888].
- Letter from Herries, Farquhar and Co., to enclose the banker's note for the sale of New South Wales Stock. The note and share certificate are with the letter, 3 pieces, dated 27-29 May 1889.
