Correspondence concerning the administration and attendance of the Turkish Day.

A letter of correspondence from T.W. Arnold addressed to Miss Charlotte Hughes, the Secretary and Librarian at the RAS, concerning the possible identification of Gogerly translations at the India Office. He suggests that Gogerly gave some of his translations to Monsieur Grimblot to bring from Ceylon. Written on October 5, 1907. A folded sheet having an imprinted letterhead 'India Office Whitehall, S.W.' 18.7cmX12cm.

Two carbon copy letterbooks of Oscar Eckenstein’s copies of correspondence with N.M. Penzer:

(a) [March 1920] to 21 July 1920, (b) 24 July 1920 to 18 December 1920.

The latter book also contains a letter from Penzer’s solicitor to Eckenstein dated 17th December 1920 threatening legal action because of Eckenstein’s refusal to proceed with the sale of his Burton collection to Penzer, and one from Eckenstein’s solicitor to Eckenstein dated 23rd December 1920 discussing the possibility of a settlement. (The record of the correspondence between Penzer and Eckenstein breaks off at this point. Eckenstein died April 8 1921).

There is also a letter from Margery Cham to Lewis C. Loyd, from “The Cave, Oving" (Eckenstein’s former home), dated 8 December 1922, saying that she was sending all that she could find of copies of Eckenstein’s letters to Penzer.

Two Chinese Philosophers: Ch'eng Ming-tao and Ch'eng Yi-ch'uan was published by Lund Humphries (London) in 1958 and Reprinted as Two Chinese Philosophers: The Metaphysics of the Brothers Cheng by Open Court (LaSalle IL) in 1992. This material consists of reviews for the first edition and correspondence regarding the reprint.

Two unglazed earthenware sherds with scratch design. Both probably from the site KT-3 as marked with those initials in ink. They are:

• QW/13/19-1 - A sherd of unglazed earthenware pottery decorated with a long stripe and flower shape. Dimensions 8.5cm by 5.5cm.
• QW/13/19-2 - A sherd of unglazed earthenware pottery decorated with star and square shapes. Dimensions 10.5cm by 7.5cm.

Two unglazed earthenware sherds with scratch decoration. Probably from the site JLX as are marked with these initials in ink. They are:

• QW/13/20-1 - A sherd of unglazed earthernware pottery decorated with square shape. Dimensions 5.8cm by 5 cm.
• QW/13/20-2 - A sherd of unglazed earthernware pottery decorated with scratch pattern. Dimensions 7.5cm by 5.5cm.

Two envelopes: one with "Letters of Richard Burton" written in ink and further identifying description written in red biro. The second envelope is addressed to C. Whitting in Sicily (crossed out) but on reverse is a list of the Burton letters.

Two Letters from E. H. M. Tod concerning a Collection of Coins left at the Royal Asiatic Society by Colonel Tod. Dated 25 and 26 March, 1861, handwritten, each 1 piece, 4 sides.

Two letters from RAS Secretary to Mr Crannis to ask for 200 notices regarding the Universities Prize Essay Competition be printed. The second letter clarifies the second title for the essay. Typed, 2 pieces, dated 10 and 11 March 1969.
