Loans and Disposals 1931-1935. Correspondence and a typed list of items that have been loaned or disposed with from the Society's Collections in the period 1931-1934. This is a more modern list - it is unknown when it was created, 2 pages. The correspondence is:

• Three letters concerning the transfer of a packet of Papers of Robert Needham Cust to the School of Oriental and African Studies. Three typed letters, dated 27 July - 29 July 1932.
• Letter from the National Central Library to Royal Asiatic Society thanking for the two books given to the Society. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 27 October 1932.
• Three letters concerning the transfer from the Royal Asiatic Society to the Library, India Office, of a manuscript letter and report from J.J. Walker to Sir George T. Staunton, dated Fuhchow 1847. dated 14 November 1935- 23 June 1937.

Typed list of material loaned or disposed of between 1943 and 1993 as extracted from the Council Munutes. Seven pages. Plus three letters concerned with the weeding of Library material for disposal. Dated 23 March - 3 April 1967.

The Society, in its history, has lent various of its collections to institutions on long term loans either because of specialist care needs of the items or because of a particular interest in the collections by the lending institution. The material in this series is the correspondence and documentation connected with these long term loans.

These include both botanical and other sketches including a butterfly and a building. The notes are in more than one hand, some accompanying the drawings, some describing specimens and one concerning mixing of paint.

Garnett.” Green quarter and corners leather, green and black marbled boards. Ex libris: Archibald Philip, Earl of Rosebery.

"Lord Ellenborough's Defence from beyond the Tomb: Three Articles from the Calcutta "Englishman" May 1874" Pamphlet made from gluing articles into a notebook. Hodgson has added to cover "received July 17/74 BHH". Printed material, 1 item May-July 1874.

"The Contemporary Review" for August 1874 which includes the article, "Lord Ellenborough's Indian Administration" by Sir A.J. Arbuthnot. Printed pamphlet with some annotations by Hodgson, 1 item, dated August 1874.

The Series contains correspondence and notes by David Lockhart Robinson Lorimer to aid Roland Carter on a tour of the Gilgit region in 1946. There are also some notes that Carter made to try to answer Lorimer's queries and letters from "local notables" in Urdu. There is a further letter from Carter to Miss Nielsen, Royal Asiatic Society, to send the material for its Collections.
