In 1933, the Finnish Oriental Society celebrated its 50th anniversary. Connected to this are:

  • "Finno-Ugrian Society" - a printed invitation to send a representative to the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Society on 2 December 1933. Printed in Finnish, English, French and German.
  • Letter from Gerard Clauson to Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, apologising for delaying his reply. He suggest that Tallqvist at Helsinki, Konow of Oslo or Karlgren of Goteborg might represent the Society if they are going. Handwritten, dated 25 November 1933.
  • Letter from Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to Sir Edward Maclagan to ask him to sign the enclosed and send by return of post. Handwritten with printed letterhead, dated 27 November 1933.
  • Letter from Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to Professor K.L. Tallqvist to ask that if he is going to the fiftieth anniversary celebrations would he be able to represent the Royal Asiatic Society. Typed, dated 27 November 1933.
  • Letter from Professor K.L. Tallqvist to Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to inform him that his letter unfortunately had arrived after the celebrations but he has forwarded the Royal Asiatic Society's compliments to the Finno-Ougrian Society. Typed, dated 6 December 1933.

Correspondence concerned with the appointment of a member of Council to the British School of Archaeology in Iraq from the Royal Asiatic Society. These are:

  • Letter from E.H. Keeling, Honorary Secretary, British School of Archaeology in Iraq, to the Royal Asiatic Society to state that under the regulations of the School the Royal Asiatic Society had appointed Professor Margoliouth as a Member of the Council for three years ending in June 1935. He asks for the Society to appoint a member for the forthcoming three years. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 15 May 1933.
  • Letter from E.H. Keeling, Honorary Secretary, British School of Archaeology in Iraq, to the Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to ask him to substitute the name of Professor Langdon for that of Margoliouth in the previous letter. Handwritten with printed letterhead, dated 15 May 1935.
  • Letter from Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to the Honorary Secretary, British School of Archaeology in Iraq, to inform him that Professor S.H. Langdon had been nominated as the representative member of Council for the period commencing 1 July 1935. Typed, dated 17 June 1935.

  • List of the Executive Committees in the represented countries of the International Fund for the Archaeological Exploration of India and a letter from Lord Reay, President, International Fund for the Archaeological Exploration of India, to set forward a scheme for raising funds for archaeological work in India and to seek approval for such a scheme. Printed material, 2 copies, letter dated February 1901.
  • "Memorandum" concerning the Government of India's proposal for decentralising various Government departments and how that could affect Archaeology. Printed, undated [c.1902].

Letter from C.J. Gadd, Honorary Secretary, Archaeological Joint Committee, to the Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to send a copy of a letter which has been sent to the Colonial Office, and to ask for its consideration at the next meeting of the Society's Council. Typed, dated 8 April 1832. With this letter is a copy of the letter sent by the Archaeological Joint Committee to the Colonial Office to ask for formal recognition of the Committee. Typed, dated April 1932.

Letter from Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to the Honorary Secretary, Archaeological Joint Committee, to state that the letter received would be brought before the Council at its next meeting. Typed, dated 13 April 1932.

Letter from Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to the Honorary Secretary, Archaeological Joint Committee, to state that the Council approve of all the suggestions made in the letter of the Archaeological Joint Committee to the Colonial Office. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 20 April 1932.

Letter from C.J. Gadd, Honorary Secretary, Archaeological Joint Committee, to the Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to ask the Society to inform the Committee of the name of the Society's representative on the Committee. Typed with handwritten list of names of previous representatives, dated April 1943.

Letter from Leonard Woolley to Richard Winstedt to express his honour in being nominated the Society's representative on the Archaeological Joint Committee. Handwritten with printed letterhead, dated 17 May 19443.

Letter from Edward S.M. Perowne, Solicitor, to Mrs Davis, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to ask of the outcome of the discussions at the Council Meeting regarding the Archaeological Joint Committee so he can inform the Institute of Archaeology. Handwritten with printed letterhead, dated 27 May 1943.

"University of London, Institute of Archaeology, Conference on the Future of Archaeology". Letter from Kathleen M. Kenyon, Acting Director, to inform of the upcoming conference to be held from 6-8 August 1943. Printed material with handwritten annotations.

Letter from President, Royal Asiatic Society, to Kathleen Kenyon to note that the geographical range of the forthcoming conference extends only from Britain to the Middle East, and therefore neglects that of India and the Far East. Typed, dated 11 June 1943.

Letter from Kathleen M. Kenyon, Acting Director, to Richard Winstedt, President, Royal Asiatic Society to inform of the reasons for not covering the Far East. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 18 June 1943.
