An imperfect copy of the Puthen Pana or the Misiha Charitham of Johann Ernst Hanxelden. A letter inserted into the book, dated 26 January 1934, sent from L.D. Barnett to Mrs Cardew, identifies the volume and dates it as 18th century. The Puthen Pana is a poem written by Hanxleden about the life of Jesus Christ. On the front papers there is a note to state that the manuscript was given to the Society by Sir Alexander Johnston and that it is in Malayalam.

The poem consists of 14 padams. The first padam informs readers that the poem is written at the request of Antonio Pimental, Archbishop of Cranganore. The second padam focuses on the Fall of Man, fourth - the Annunciation, fifth - the Nativity, seventh - the Sermon on the Mount, tenth - the Last Supper, eleventh - the Trial and Crucifixion, the twelfth padam portrays the lament of Virgin Mary at the Crucifixion and Death of Jesus, thirteenth - the Resurrection, and the fourteenth portrays the Ascension. The 12th padam is considered the most important in the poem. But for the 12th, which is written in the metre, Nathonatha, the rest of the couplets are written in the metre, Sarpini.

Some of the pages are fragile and a few have had historic conservation repairs.

"A cursory Notice of Nayakote By B.H. Hodgson, Esq. Resident at the Court of Nepal". Two copies of an unbound offprint from Journal of Asiatic Society of Bengal, 1841, concerning the Valley of Náyakόt and the Awalia people who live there. Few annotations by Hodgson, 12 pages, uncut, dated 1841.

Report from Central China Post, "Royal Asiatic Society: A Deputation Received by the King" reporting on the King receiving a deputation of the Royal Asiatic Society on the occasion of their Centenary.

"Told by Harí Rám, Rájput of Dudhalí and recorded by Juwan Sinh, Teacher of Hridaypur of Dehrádún. A Dhrupad song": Bhuliyé na rup dekhi… With translation: Don't be deluded by seeing the loneliness of a man… Unsigned but in a Rámgharíb Chaubé's hand. Handwritten, 2 sides, undated.

This is entitled "A Dictionary of the Pali and English Languages" and is a dictionary of Pali words/phrases with their English meanings written in Gogerly's hand. It is contained within a bound notebook 31.5 x 20.5cm, the binding of which is broken.

Printed at the expense of the Government, at the Orphan School Press, Mirzapore, 1855. Printed pamphlet on front cover Hodgson has noted "Testimony to my Educ. plans". Printed material, 1 item, dated 1855.

Letter from John Emerson to Angus Graham to inform Graham about his work on a textual study and cross-indexing of Lao Tzu. He asks Graham to comment on the enclosed paper. With the letter is the article A Dissection of Lao Tzu.

This card has a watercolour sketch of a compound into which a buffalo is being led to fight a tiger. The front shows the annotations B, D, H, T & G which are described on the reverse of the card: B is the buffalo, T is the tiger's cage, D is the dying tiger, H is the room from which the combat was viewed and G a building belonging to Charles Croftes.
