The material in this catalogue was formed in the administration of the Governance of the Royal Asiatic Society. They include Reports and Statements, Correspondence concerned with both internal and external business, Attendance Books, Records of use of the Society's Seal, examples of emblems and seals, and some other ephemera.

Since its initiation in 1823, the Royal Asiatic Society has held an annual Anniversary General Meeting. This is partly a business meeting where the accounts are presented, and a report given of the Society's affairs for the preceding year. It is also a celebration of the Society's achievements and activities. A lecture is usually given as part of the proceedings and the meeting has, in its history, been followed by a reception or meal. Due to the business side of the activities, relevant material will also be found within the Governance records and within the General Meeting Minutes.

The material identified in this catalogue include agendas, reports, invitations, press cuttings and photographs.

This collection contains correspondence between Abraham Poliak and the Secretary of the Royal Asiatic Society (Diana Crawford), concerning the proposed reprint of Poliak's publication, Feudalism in Egypt, Syria, Palestine, and the Lebanon 1250-1900. This was originally published in 1939 funded by the Society's Prize Publication Fund.

Due to Poliak's death in 1970, the proposed reprint never came to fruition, The collection also contains three notebooks of draft amendments made by Poliak.

These Papers contain three letters from James Purefoy, a scan of a letter in a private collection, two Bills of Exchange and a note regarding their donation.

This material contains a letter from major Cunningham describing the "Haram of Ali Raza" at Mashhad and a copy of the "Ziarat Nameh" said at the shrine. There is also further Royal Asiatic Society correspondence concerning what to do with this donated material.

Two handwritten manuscripts by Maurice Patrick O'Connor Tandy, two allied letters, and some provenance information.

In 1938, l'Institut d'Histoire de l'Émigration Politique Contemporaine celebrated the 750th anniversary of the death of the Georgian poet, Chota Roustaveli. This correspondence and printed material are in connection with that celebration. They are:

• Letter from The President, Institut d'Histoire de l'Emigration Politique Contemporaine, to the Royal Asiatic Society to inform them of the celebration, of the Organising Committee, and of associated names and activities. He asks if the Society will consent to send a representative. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 29 January 1938.
• "Institut d'Histoire de l'Émigration Politique Contemporaine" - printed pamphlet concerning the Committees of the Society and its activities.
• Letter from Royal Asiatic Society to l'Institut d'Histoire de l'Émigration Politique Contemporaine to state that Sir Oliver Wardrop would be the Society's representative upon the occasion of the 750th anniversary of the death of the Georgian Poet, Chola Roustaveli. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 18 February 1938.
• Postcard from Sir Oliver Wardrop to the Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to state that the ceremony has been postponed until 30 March 1938. Handwritten, dated 20 February 1938.

These papers are concerned with the Finnish Oriental Society and the interaction of the Royal Asiatic Society with them in 1933 and 1983.

Correspondence concerned with the appointment of a member of Council to the British School of Archaeology in Iraq from the Royal Asiatic Society. These are:

• Letter from E.H. Keeling, Honorary Secretary, British School of Archaeology in Iraq, to the Royal Asiatic Society to state that under the regulations of the School the Royal Asiatic Society had appointed Professor Margoliouth as a Member of the Council for three years ending in June 1935. He asks for the Society to appoint a member for the forthcoming three years. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 15 May 1933.
• Letter from E.H. Keeling, Honorary Secretary, British School of Archaeology in Iraq, to the Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to ask him to substitute the name of Professor Langdon for that of Margoliouth in the previous letter. Handwritten with printed letterhead, dated 15 May 1935.
• Letter from Col. Hoysted, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to the Honorary Secretary, British School of Archaeology in Iraq, to inform him that Professor S.H. Langdon had been nominated as the representative member of Council for the period commencing 1 July 1935. Typed, dated 17 June 1935.

Material concerned with the British Association for Cemeteries in South Asia and the interaction of the Royal Asiatic Society with the Association. These are:

• Letter from Lydia Collins, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to Rosemarie Wilkinson, Membership Secretary, British Association for Cemeteries in South Asia, to inform her that at the last meeting of the Council of the Royal Asiatic Society it was resolved that the Society should become an Institutional Benefactor of British Association for Cemeteries in South Asia. Typed, dated 17 April 1989.
• Letter from British Association for Cemeteries in South Asia to Lydia Collins, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to thank her for the letter and cheque and to welcome the Society as a 'Group' Benefactor. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 20 April 1989. With the letter is a Membership enrolment form for the Society.
