Letter from Sir Monier Monier Williams to Mrs. Susan Hodgson in which he acknowledges receipt of the copy of the pamphlet on Brian Hodgson's work. He writes of his appreciation of Hodgson's support for Monier Williams' project to found the Indian Institute at Oxford and for his ongoing interest in it. He refers to Brian Hodgson's name as a subscriber to papers published by the Institute and writes concerning a transcription (in Nagari and Latin) of the popular ancient Buddhist formula. Handwritten in English and Sanskrit, 2 sides, dated 16 January 1887.

Burnouf) to Mrs. Susan Hodgson to accompany a copy of the article on Hodgson by Barthélemy-Saint-Hilaire published in the Journal des Savants of September 1891. She anticipates with pleasure meeting with Susan Hodgson and Brian Hodgson (her father's old friend) at St. James Hotel and praises Hodgson's work. This is accompanied by the extract of the article "Extrait d'un Article de M. By. Saint-Hilaire dans le N' de Septembre 1891 de Journal des Savants". Both handwritten in French, 4 sides, 3 sides.
