Correspondence concerning the administration and attendance of the Turkish Day.

In 1973 the Royal Asiatic Society celebrated its Sesquicentenary (150 years). The archival material includes Planning committee administration; material connected with the various events held, exhibitions put on and publications produced in celebration of the occasion; and material concerned with fundraising for the Society.

As part of the Sesquicentenary Celebrations the Royal Asiatic Society decided to host a series of National Days at approximately monthly intervals to highlight the countries in which the Society was particularly interested and with the hope of strengthening ties between various bodies interested in Asia. This material covers the organisation of these events.

Correspondence concerning the administration of the Turkish day. These are:

• Letter from Susan Skilliter to Diana Crawford, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to give details of the Secretary of the Anglo-Turkish Society, dated 17 May 1972.
• Letter from Susan Skilliter to Diana Crawford, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to report on her conversation with the Secretary of the Anglo-Turkish Society, dated 26 October 1972.
• Letter from Susan Skilliter to Diana Crawford, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to send details of a prospective member and to ask whether Diana Crawford had been contacted by the Secretary of the Anglo-Turkish Society. She suggests Professor Bernard Lewis as a speaker, dated 5 January 1973.
