"Thomas Newnham Esq. presents Coins and information on them". Information regarding the coins given by Thomas Newnham. Handwritten document, 5 pieces, 20 sides with further label with title on it.The Donations Register suggesst that Newnham gave 2 gold coins on 6th April 1839 and Hindu gold coins on June 15th 1839.

Correspondence relating to the purchase of the Thomas Manning archive from Maggs Bros. Ltd. in 2015. This includes correspondence with Maggs Bros., correspondence concerning and applications for funding, independent assessment of the collection, notes regarding Manning, and correspondence with the wider manning family.

"The Singhalese Book is called Pansiyapanas Jatakaya" Explanation accompanying a donation of the book. The letter gives a comprehensive account of the book and its production and is signed as by written Benjamin Clough (1791-1853), Wesleyan Missionary in Sri Lanka, and dated 25 March, 1824. A further label reads "Sir A Johnston, Jan 7 1826". Handwritten, 1 piece, 3 sides.

The "Pinches" bequest of Lantern Slides. List itemising the slides that were bequeathed to the Society by Dr. T.G. Pinches. These were bequeathed in 1939. Typed with a single handwritten sheet, 15 pieces.

This archive consists of registers, lists and correspondence concerned with the acquisitions and accessions of the Collections of the Society. The Society has not kept comprehensive records throughout its history. Further information pertaining to the Acquisitions of the Society can be found in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society and in the Minute books for the Council and General Meetings. Accessions continue in the life of the Society. More recent ones are held in the Society's records management system and will be transferred to the archive in due course.
