"Some Account of the Senbyú pagoda at Mengún near the Burmese Capital, in a Memorandum by Captain E.H. Sladen, Political Agent at Mandalé; with Remarks on the Subject by Col. Henry Yule, C.B." Printed pamphlet of article first published in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, 1869. Bears Hodgson's annotations on the front cover, 1 item, dated November 1869.

Handwritten, typed and printed manuscripts of work by Edward Conze which were given to his friend Vera Calvert (neé Baker). They include early philosophical work, translations and explanations of Buddhist work and teaching curricula.

A handwritten translation of "On Believing in Mind - Shinjin-no Mei" by Seng-t'san, third Chinese patriarch of Zen, and a typed version with explanatory commentary.

"On the Discovery of the Buddha's Birthplace by L.A. Waddell". A notebook with black cover into which Waddell has pasted several articles concerning his attempts to find the birthplace of Buddha. These are entitled and annotated by him by hand. The articles included are:

  It appears from the title page of the book that Waddell prepared this volume especially for the Royal Asiatic Society in February 1898.

Albums and single cuttings of newspaper articles. mostly written by Quaritch Wales. The contents concern the history and politics of India, China and other countries in Southeast Asia.

The left hand from a Buddha statue in Abhaya Mudra position. The hand is cut at wrist level. The hand is made of metal, length 20cm, width 6cm, and shows traces of gold gilding. The cut of the hand reveals that is was made by the lost-wax technique. Its provenance is unknown.

Twelve notebooks containing the author's notes on India, its religions and inscriptions, mainly extracts from, and comments upon, published authors' works.

First Volume - Java Antiquities

• First section - Lists and corrrespondence regarding the possible second publication of Sir T. S. Raffles' book, History of Java, with notes by Mr Hammond, Sir T. S. Raffles and the Duke of Somerset.
• Second section - Handwritten descriptions of four Javanese temples; Cobon Dalum, Sewu, Jonggrangan and Loro Jongran, likely written by T. S. Raffles.
• Third section - 'Memorandum made on a visit to the ancient Hindu Remains on Gunung Prau in the Island of Java, during the month of September 1815, illustrated with Plans & sketches taken on the spot', likely written by T. S. Raffles.
• Fourth section - 'Extracts from the private Journals of Captain G. P. Baker, 19th Regt Bengal Infantry, of all memories made on the spot relative to the Collection of antiquarians Drawing [etc] made by him in a tour thro' the interior of Java in the years 1815/16'. Handwritten with accompanying drawings.
