Letter from Dr. Laurence A. Waddell to William Claxton Peppé in Birdpore, in which he writes that he will be at Chandapore tomorrow and expects to meet Dr. Hoey there. He asks for 'particulars of the ruins at Mahāpāli near the Mekhra River S. of your house' where there are said to be 'stone images'. Handwritten, 1 side, dated 4 February 1899.

"The Buddhist Stupa at Piprahwa on the Birdpur Estate." A draft of the paper published in the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society 1898 (3), pp.573-578. The main body of the text is in Peppé's handwriting but there some emendations and additions in another hand, probably that of Vincent Smith. However these do not appear in the article as published but the article is considerably revised from this draft and has an additional note by Vincent Smith (pp. 579-588). Handwritten, 7 sides, undated [1898].

"List of jewels & ornaments (placed in the vases) found in the coffer excavated at Piprawah Kot Birdpore Estate Basti District N.K.P. placed at the disposal of the Government by Mr W.C. Peppé, agent and representative of the Proprietors of the Birdpore Estate. and made over by him to the Imperial Museum Calcutta on the June 1898." Draft lists of items found. "Scale plan of the Piprahwah stupa." Plan on yellow/brown paper in black, red and blue colouring with writing in English and nagari script, 55 x 45.5 cm. Plus a further loose page of nagari text and chart with numerals, 22.5 x 14 cm. Handwritten, 4 sides, undated [1898[.

This series contains all the papers donated to the Royal Asiatic Society by Neil Peppé. There is correspondence with William Claxton Peppé, lists of the excavation finds, some site plans, and a draft of Peppé's article for the Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society.
