The Minutes of the Council Meeting for 10 April 1941, record the choice of essay titles and those for 9 October 1941 record that the three essays submitted to Sir Atil Chatterjee, Dr. Barnett and Prof. Tritton for examination. The Minutes for 11 December 1941 record that the Prize was awarded to Carlo. F. Brunner.
In the report of the Council for 1941-2: Anniversary General Meeting (Journal of Royal Asiatic Society 1942, p. 269) it was reported that the Universities Essay prize had been won by Mr. C.F. Brunner.
