The Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland was founded by the eminent Sanskrit scholar Sir Henry Thomas Colebrooke on the 15th March 1823. It received its Royal Charter from King George IV on the 11th August 1824 'for the investigation of subjects connected with and for the encouragement of science, literature and the arts in relation to Asia'. It continues as a forum for those who are interested in the languages, cultures and history of Asia to meet and exchange ideas.

1905
- Menu Card for the Dinner of the Heads of Departments of the London County Council, Torcadero Restaurant, Piccadilly Circus, 5 May 1905. It is uncertain whether the Royal Asiatic Society was represented at this dinner. The card is of interest because its owner added the list of wines that were served for each course.
1919-1920
In 1920 the Royal Asiatic Society moved premises from 22 Albemarle Street to 74 Grosvenor Street. There are two cards for associated events:
- Notice of the final meeting at Albemarle Street with the presentation to Mr Henry Cousins of the Pinhay Memorial Medal, and the presentation of the Public School Gold Medal and Prizes, 11 November 1919, printed card.
- Invitation from the President and Council of the Royal Asiatic Society to a Reception on the opening of the Society's new premises, 30 March 1920, printed card.
