"Autograph Book belonging to Susan Hodgson, Alderley Grange, Wotton under Edge" A leather bound autograph book belonging to Hodgson's wife, Susan, in which are placed certificates, diplomas, academic and personal correspondence, newspaper cuttings and extracts related to Brian Houghton Hodgson's life. Leather binding with metal clasp. The book's binding is broken and some pages are loose. Care must be taken when using this item.

"Commerce with the countries north of India". A paper written in reply to one given at the Society of Arts by Sir Douglas Forsyth on the possibilities of commerce with Sikkim, Nepal and Tibet, in which Hodgson points out his previous attempts to raise this issue and his opinions on the subject. Handwritten, 2 pieces, 7 sides, undated [1877, see BHH/5/41/1].

Copy of a letter from Alexander Csoma de Koros to Brian Houghton Hodgson, with critical comments on Hodgson's Hodgson's newly written work, "Notices of the Languages, Literature and Religion of the Bauddhas of Nepal and Bhot", in Asiatic Researches vol. 16, 1828. Includes comments on Tibetan pronunciation, history of Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhist texts of Kagyur and Tangyur, the content or Kar-chyag of which he had sent to Csoma for perusal. Handwritten, 4 sides, original letter dated 30 December 1829.

Cutting from The Academy with a report of the meeting of the Royal Geographical Society at which Mr Markham read a paper entitled "Travels in Great Tibet and Trade Routes between Tibet and Bengal" in which various explorations in Tibet were discussed including that of George Bogle and Thomas Manning. Dated 1 May 1875.

Cutting from The Times with article entitled, "Tibet" which is a detailed critique of Clements R. Markham's, "Narratives of the Mission of George Bogle to Tibet, and of the Journey of Thomas Manning to Lhasa". Hodgson has added his own title, "Yule's critique of Markham's Tibet", and has also annotated the article. Dated 15 May 1876.
