Biographical history
Charles Otto Blagden was an English Orientalist and linguist who specialised in the Malay, Mon and Pyu languages. He is particularly known for his studies of Burmese epigraphic inscriptions in the Mon and Pyu scripts. In 1937 he was one of the Vice-Presidents of the Royal Asiatic Society.

An uncorrected proof of "A Paper to be read by John de La Valette before the Royal Society of Arts on Wednesday, January 20th, 1937, at 8.15 p.m. R.A. Butler Esq., M.P., Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for India, will preside".

- Letter from Charles Otto Blagden, Vice-President of Royal Asiatic Society, to Col. Hoysted, Secretary of Royal Asiatic Society, to inform Hoysted that he has at last had a chance to read the Paper which is interesting because it contains a large number of facts about Dutch and French colonial activities not generally known. The letter is handwritten, dated 6 February 1937.
