Throughout the period of the Editorial Board the President of the Society chaired the Committee. These were Richard Winstedt, Gerard Clauson, Sir Harold Bailey, and Charles Beckingham. The Publications Committee was chaired either by the President or the Director. These were J. Burton-Page, B.W. Robinson, A.D.H. Bivar, Stuart Simmonds, K.A. Ballhatchet, and Charles Beckingham again.

The Minutes contains details of those from the Committee that were present and apologies for absence, matters concerning the Journal of the Society including articles submitted, under consideration and accepted, exchanges with other institutions, books for review and permissions requested for other publications. They also considered the prizes such as the Barwiss-Holliday Fund and the George Staunton Prize for articles and theses.
