Copy of a letter from Gajarajsing Thapa to Brian Houghton Hodgson with messages from Jung Bahadur about the massacre in Delhi and the military help offered by him to Lord Canning. Jung Bahadur plans to visit Lord Canning in Calcutta in November and he requests that Hodgson comes to Calcutta at that time as his wishes to have a meeting with Hodgson. He writes about the rumour of the fall of Delhi and that Nepal's Gorkhali troops are to be sent off the next day. Handwritten, 3 sides, dated 28 June 1857.

Letter from Jung Bahadur to Brian Houghton Hodgson written in English by James Kenyon with accompanying letter from James Kenyon to Brian Houghton Hodgson. Jang Bahadur acknowledges Hodgson's letter of August 30, 1865. He writes about the state of affairs in Nepal with fairly detailed explanation of changes and developments that Jung Bahadur has introduced into Nepal. He describes his services to the British Government in the Mutiny, war incidents and his services during and after the Mutiny including rebels' encroachment and disturbing activities in Nepal's Tarai and their taming by Jung's Nepali forces. He expresses his grievance about the reduction from 19 to 17 guns salute by the British Indian authorities, which he interpreted as lower than his status and just equal to a British officer in command and gives reference to 19 gun salute he was being given by the British Government as a plenipotentiary ambassador of an independent country and Prime Minister and Commander in Chief of Nepal. He writes of his intention to send a petition to the Queen of England though he finds satisfaction with the honour of the Grand Cross of the Bath from Her Majesty for his services, but dissatisfaction with the behaviour of the Viceroy and other officials of rank in India. Draft Letter from Brian Houghton Hodgson to Dr Reinhold Rost in which he writes concerning a controversy which has put him in a negative light and so he asks for Rost's help in sorting the facts. He mentions Campbell and Lawrence. He proceeds to write his opinion concerning the Durbar of Nepal and politics of the region. Handwritten, 2 pieces, 6 sides, dated 21 June 1873. Also accompanying envelope addressed to Rost at the India Office.

Letter from Ganapat Sakai to Brian Houghton Hodgson at Darjeeling, 15 October 1846, in which he gives a detailed account of the shooting of General Guggin Sing and the subsequent consequences leading to the takeover of the country by Jangabahadur. He appends a list of those who "fell in the tumult" of that night, dated 15 September 1846. Handwritten, 6 sides.

Letter from Ganapat Sakai to Brian Houghton Hodgson at Darjeeling, 24 February 1847, in which thanks Hodgson for his letter and writes about the hearing that the Maharaja has left Benares for Nepal but is prevented from entering. He also writes that he has visited the painter who has been ill and who will not go to Hodgson in Darjeeling, nor can the pandit travel at this time. He has also enquired of the Durbar for a Pandit for Hodgson but to no avail. He writes that [Bhawan Shatther] has asked that he write to Hodgson on his behalf as he is likely to lose his Post. "Autograph Book belonging to Susan Hodgson, Alderley Grange, Wotton under Edge" A leather bound autograph book belonging to Hodgson's wife, Susan, in which are placed certificates, diplomas, academic and personal correspondence, newspaper cuttings and extracts related to Brian Houghton Hodgson's life. Placard sent by Premier Pushkar Shah of Nepal to Brian Houghton Hodgson. This takes the form of an open appeal addressed to the eldest prince (jethāsāhebjyū), prepared and distributed on the streets of Kathmandu in the name of an army battalion stationed in the capital by the anti-British and anti-Hodgson group of courtiers of Nepal; details the historical conflict and conspiracy between Bhimsen Thapa and Ranajang pande (Thapa-Pande conflict); the climax of this conspiracy in the court of Nepal; a list of 18 courtiers belonging to a so-called British supporter group known as an anti-national element and whom it says should be punished by the death penalty; accusation of the destruction of Nepal, the siphoning off of national wealth to British India and making Nepal a puppet of the British rulers in India; suggestion that there should be a mass execution of that so-called group of British supporters. Mentions Hodgson's Muslim mistress's nickname 'MusĪ dwāre' and her spying activities for Hodgson and the group of British lobbyists in the court of Nepal. Hodgson is addressed derogatively as "Harcanyā thāru musalmān phirangī " translated as 'stupid Hodgson, a Tarian or Indian of low class, a Muslim or untouchable or anti Hindu, an European traveller come with greed'. Names of royal relatives including high ranking Coutariyās (collateral brothers of the ruling monarch) namely Phatyajang Shah, Guruprasad Shah, Pushkar Shah, Badriban Shahi and ministers and courtiers including Ranajor Thapa, Singhabir Pande, Ranagambhir Pande, Birkeshar Pande, Kalu kaji, Abhiman Rana, Balanarshing Kunwar, Kirtibir Karki, Juddhabir Bohara, Gagansingh Khabas, Dalamardan Thapa, Kanaksingh Basnyat are included in the list of so-called British supporters and anti-nationals. Hodgson's title description in English on top and back side of the placard read as "Placard of February 41 received from Choutara Pushkar Shah on 14 Feb. 1842" (top) and as "Placard of Feb. 42 given me by the Premier." Letter from Balloban Sing to Gajarajsing Thapa sent from Kathmandu concerning the progress of Nildhoj Khatri's education and training. He promises to check with Jang Bahadur, through Singh's uncle, whether gunners are required or not and gives description of the war with Tibet. Hodgson's note on the top of the letter states that Balloban Sing was a friend of Gajaraj Thapa living in Kathmandu. Handwritten, 4 sides, dated 22 November, 1855.

Translation of a letter from Jung Bahadur to Brian Houghton Hodgson to inform him of the resignation of Jung Bahadur from the Premiership and appointment of his brother Bambahadur to the post. He writes about his honorary title of Maharaja of Kaski and Lamjung in recognition of his success in the war with Tibet. He also writes about Buddhist tantrik drawings and paintings requested by Hodgson and sends condolences for the sudden death of Henry Hodgson with words in praise of Henry's character and a memory of the visit to Henry by Jung Bahadur and his entourage while they were in England. He promises to send samples of mineral water (dagdhi-nāsī) from the mountains of Nepal to Hodgson and requests that Gajaraj Thapa be sent back to Nepal. Handwritten, 4 sides, dated October 1856.
