The Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland was founded by the eminent Sanskrit scholar Sir Henry Thomas Colebrooke on the 15th March 1823. It received its Royal Charter from King George IV on the 11th August 1824 'for the investigation of subjects connected with and for the encouragement of science, literature and the arts in relation to Asia'. It continues as a forum for those who are interested in the languages, cultures and history of Asia to meet and exchange ideas.

Printed cards listing the dates of Meetings at the Royal Asiatic Society with the names of the speakers and titles of their lectures. These are for 1965 (March -June), 1965-1966, 1966-1967, 1967-1968, 1968-1969, and 1969-1970. The last of these for 1969-70 also details the Council for that year and details about the Library.
There are also handwritten and typed draft lists for lectures for 1961-1963.
