              Letter from William IV to state that "the King has great pleasure in complying with the wish conveyed to him through Lord Marlborough by the Royal Asiatic Society that His Majesty should become their Patron." Handwritten letter, mounted on a wooden frame. This letter was removed from a picture frame. (The original letter was replaced with a facsimile).

              • Draft letter from the Royal Asiatic Society to Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, to ask whether he would consent to become Vice Patron of the Society. Typed letter with handwritten corrections and annotations, undated.
              • Letter from Squadron-Leader David Checketts, Buckingham Palace, to B.W. Robinson, Royal Asiatic Society, to state that Prince Charles has agreed to become Vice Patron thus making an exception to his decision to refuse such invitations during his navel career. His attendance at the Society's Triennial Dinner is under consideration. Typed letter with printed letterhead, dated 29 November 1972.
              • Letter from Squadron-Leader David Checketts, Buckingham Palace, to B.W. Robinson, Royal Asiatic Society, to state that the Prince has no objection to his name appearing as Vice Patron in the Society's Journal. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 4 December 1972.

              Supplement Charter from Elizabeth the Second to the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, to remove some of the wording from the original Charter of 1824. The Charter measures 46cm by 32 cm and the seal has a diameter of 16cm. The charter is housed within a presentation box.
