Scope and content
Letter from Herbert Allen Giles to Bernard Quaritch in which he apologises that the last rubbing is less legible than the first. He writes concerning a dinner for W. Fang which he assumes will be at 6pm. He would not be able to get to the Freemasons Hall before that time. He doubts that the Marquis will come up from Folkestone and asks whether the Editor of the London & China Express had received a formal invitation. Handwritten, 3 sides, dated 27 January 1884.
