Scope and content
Letter from Professor D.S. Margoliouth to Colonel Hoysted, Secretary of Royal Asiatic Society, in which Margoliouth apologise in advance for his absence from the Council Meeting on 14th June 1935. He details difficulties consulting with the 1935 Burton Medal Committee owing to their travels. Two of the three have agreed on Miss Blackman and Margoliouth suggests her name is put before the Council for selection. Adds that Freya Stark has also been considered and that she would also be a good choice. Further notes in Hoysted's hand on the Council Meeting of 12th April 1934 which resolved to postpone the award pending the report of the Committee appointed 9th November 1933 (Margoliouth/Gibb/Penzer) and that Professor Gibb favours Stark, but a decision should be postponed until the end of the year as she is abroad. Penzer favours either (15/06/1934).
