Papers of Anton Tien

These papers consist of a letter from Rev Anton Tien, in Constantinople, to Edwin Norris to send him a copy of a letter sent by Sheikh Ahmed of Mecca to some of his principal co-religionists to be distributed to all "Musselmans", as Tien thought the letter would be of interest to Norris. The copy of Sheikh Ahmed's letter is in Arabic with an English translation.

  • Islamic Vol I: Ottoman and Seljukian - containing notes from sources such as Tableau [Senvial] de l'Empire Ottoman, Paris 1787, D'Ohsson, Schifer, Elliot. Pasted into the notebook is the article - Ottoman Administration - a review of "Droit Public et Administratif de l'Empire Ottoman" by A. Heidborn.
  • Islamic Vol II - containing notes from sources such as Kremer, Goldziher, Amin Ali. Within the volume is a loose newspaper cutting from The Pioneer for 29 April 1910, with an article entitled "Turks and Arabs".
