Correspondence concerned with Prince Charles as Vice-Patron of the Royal Asiatic Society. These are:

  • Draft letter from the Royal Asiatic Society to Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, to ask whether he would consent to become Vice Patron of the Society. Typed letter with handwritten corrections and annotations, undated.
  • Letter from Squadron-Leader David Checketts, Buckingham Palace, to B.W. Robinson, Royal Asiatic Society, to state that Prince Charles has agreed to become Vice Patron thus making an exception to his decision to refuse such invitations during his navel career. His attendance at the Society's Triennial Dinner is under consideration. Typed letter with printed letterhead, dated 29 November 1972.
  • Letter from Squadron-Leader David Checketts, Buckingham Palace, to B.W. Robinson, Royal Asiatic Society, to state that the Prince has no objection to his name appearing as Vice Patron in the Society's Journal. Typed with printed letterhead, dated 4 December 1972.
  • Copy of a letter from B.W. Robinson, Royal Asiatic Society, to Squadron-Leader David Checketts, Buckingham Palace, to acknowledge the Prince's permission for his name to be in the Journal. Typed, dated 16 December 1972.
