Letter from E.H.S. Simmonds, President of Royal Asiatic Society, to Professor David Hawkes to inform him that the Society would like to award him the Gold Medal in recognition of his work in Chinese studies. He also informs that the recipient is expected to give a lecture and he hoped that Professor Hawkes might give his lecture at the proposed memorial lecture in honour of Arthur Waley in May 1975. Typed, dated 3 July 1974.

Note by the Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to record that the Secretary had written to the President to inform him of the terms and conditions of the Gold Medal and asking if he wished to put forward any names. Recorded that he replied that the medal should be left in abeyance for another year as no obvious candidate. Typed, dated 15 February 1980.

  • Second Circular for the 29th Congress giving details of seminars and programme. Printed in French and English, dated October-November 1972.
  • Letter from Yves Hervouet, Secretary General of 29th Conference, enclosed with registration forms for the Congres, to ask for delegates to return their registration forms and to give details of arrangements for the Congress. Typed and printed in English and French, undated.
