Correspondence with Han-Shan Tang Ltd. regarding the possibility of purchasing or becoming an agent for the sale of the Society's offprints. There are eight letters negotiating the terms of the agreement, the sale of current offprints, and subsequently the return of the offprints when Han-Shan Tang Ltd. failed to keep to the terms of the contract.
Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and IrelandThe manuscript is the preparatory version of the Saccavibhaṅga sutta translation for publication in 1840, Colombo, Sri Lanka (Ceylon) (see DJG/3/1/2). The translation seems to be transcribed by an unknown author, place and date unknown. Translated from Sinhalese as early as 1837 in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). The manuscript is 10 loose foolscap sheets; the text is written on one side only; pages numbered. The Saccavibhaṅga sutta belongs to the Mahā Pirit Pota ('The Great Book of Protection'), which is a Theravāda Buddhist text of rituals to be performed on particular occasions in Sri Lanka for spiritual and physical protection. 32cmX19.8cm.
Gogerly Daniel John 1792-1862 Reverend, Missionary, Pali and Sinhalese translatorA handwritten translation of 'On believing in mind - Shinjin-no Mei', by Seng-t'san, third Chinese patriarch of Zen. There is a change in the pen used part way through the document and a small number of corrections.

Head Raymond b 1948A handwritten draft written by Edward William West for an article published in the Bombay Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society in 1860. Included are also three pages of draft prints of the inscriptions which were included in the publication.
This is number 8 on the folder list.
West Edward William 1824-1905Handwritten draft giving background to the Escorts in Tibet and giving journal entries from 16 August 1938 to 27 March 1939. These entries are not exact replicas of the diary entries. The draft is 86 handwritten sheets which are annotated and edited. There are three labels with this draft, one of which is dated 26 May 1978.
