- Note from Elizabeth Samson to Sir Cyril Philips to thank for his letter and enclosure but to ask for a correction to be made on the spelling of the name. Handwritten, 1 piece, dated 20 December 1986.
- Letter from Cyril Philips to Anne Southwark, to enclose Elizabeth's Samson's note. Handwritten, 1 piece, dated 9 January 1987.
- Note from Elizabeth Samson to Anne Southwark to enclose the cheque for the donation. Handwritten, 1 piece, dated 17 February 1987. The note is annotated to state the cheque was received on 23 February and acknowledged on 24 February 1987.
The possibility of having an in-house conservator was raised in the late 1980s. It was decided that some money would be set aside for this for an initial period of 3 years. Graeme Gardiner was employed from 1989. The initial employment was extended beyond the original period. The archival material consists of reports and correspondence concerned with this employment and the work undertaken.

- Receipt for the hire of a 12 oared Bauliah from Kolkata (Calcutta) to Rangpur (Rungpore). Dated 11th October 1810. Handwritten 1 piece, 1 side
- Receipt for the receiving of the sum of two hundred and sixty nine 1/2 Sicca rupees on account for Thomas Manning
"Indian Nationalism before Gandhi" - essay submitted by Gordon Johnson. Typed, 19 pages. With the essay is a card identifying "Robert Hewson" as Gordon Johnson of Trinity College, Cambridge, and a note from Dr D.H. Marrian to certify that Johnson is a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, dated 13 September 1967.
Johnson Gordon b 1943 HistorianIn 1957 it was agreed that the Society would transfer on 'permanent loan' to the Victoria and Albert Museum, some of the paintings from its collections. This were primarily Indian miniature paintings from the Collections of James Tod and Nadir Baxter. These have subsequently been returned to the Society. The material in this subseries contains correspondence and documentation concerning the loan.
- Early correspondence between the V&A and the Royal Asiatic Society concerning the loan of the paintings to the V&A and subsequent tracing of them. Typed and photocopy, 10 pieces, dated 11 April 1957 - 16 November 1965.
- 'Victoria and Albert Museum: Objects Submitted on Approval for Loan' - list of all the items loaned in 1957. Photocopy of typed list with official form, 19 pieces, dated 16 May 1957.

- Valuation undertaken by Sotheby's of the items on loan. Printed and typed, 1 item, dated 23 June 1992.
- Schedule of Indemnity for the items on loan - incomplete form without valuations, annotated 'V&A list of RAS items on loan 1957 - 1998'. Typed and handwritten, 5 pieces, [1998].
- 'Loan of Indian Paintings by the Royal Asiatic Society to Victoria and Albert Museum' - typed list of the items with extensive handwritten annotations concerning the identification of the items, 22 pieces, dated 8 June 1998.
