Letter from W.E.D. Allen to H. Higgens in which Allen apologises for the delay in paying Higgens and says he has been unable to work on the Hakluyt book because he has been busy with other matters. He asks Higgens to tell him how much he owes for the translation (having lost Higgens's letter from 6 October), and offers to pay him by cheque. Dated: 8 January 1965.

A project proposal addressed to Hakluyt Society and the Royal Asiatic Society regarding translating the works of Ottoman traveller Evliya Celebi, total of 10 volumes, 8 of which are in Arabic and 2 in Ottoman Turkish. Includes information about the importance of Celebi's works as a social history of 17th century Ottoman Empire. Proposes budget for the project and requirements of translators, editors and annotators. Dated: 9 October 1954.

Allen to Peter Skelton in which Allen requests clarification on their meeting He also writes about Sir Hamilton Gibb's proposal to find someone to translate the Egyptian section of Evliya Celebi and that Allen thought somebody at Durham University was already working on it. He regrets that he has not got a copy of the book Skelton requires but suggests a good bookseller in Rome where he may be able to obtain it. Dated: 14 July 1958.
