Part of Papers of the Gibb Memorial Trust

Letter from C.A. Storey to W. Heffer & Sons Ltd. to send a draft for the lettering of the spine for the Gibb Memorial Volume "Tadhkirat al-mulūk" by Vladimir Minorsky. He asks whether they would like him to bring them other Memorial Volumes in order for them to match the patterning. A copy of the lettering for the binding is with this letter.

Letter from C.A. Storey to Vladimir Minorsky to inform Minorsky that he has received galleys 40-7 but has noted only a few misprints about which he didn't think he needed to write to Minorsky. Nicholson has informed him that he thinks the facsimiles were deposited with the University Press, where he thinks they should remain until needed by Heffer. He sends an example of the title page for Minorsky's approval.

Letter from C.A. Storey to Vladimir Minorsky to inform Minorsky that he thinks it is inadvisable to bring out extra copies without the Persian text and that supplying him with offprints to give out would further dilute the market. 500 copies are likely to supply the demand for many years. He thanks Minorsky for providing a reference for him.

Letter from C.A. Storey to Vladimir Minorsky to inform Minorsky of Professor Nicholson's view of Minorsky's proposal in that he may have 50 offprints to distribute to those who could otherwise not obtain it, but they will not print 100 to 200 copies of the stand-alone translation and commentary.

Letter from C.A. Storey to University Press, Cambridge, to ask them to submit an estimate for the cost of printing Kitāb al-Tashbīhāt. Storey sends details of the volume and how he would undertake to ensure the spelling could be read in the handwriting. If they are willing to undertake the task he asks for them to print the specimen page he has sent for inspection.

Letter from C.A. Storey to Professor Nicholson, Professor Gibb and Dr Arberry concerning Minorsky's proposal to either have copies of his translation published without the text or be allowed to obtain offprints at his own expense. Two copies of this letter, one of which also contains the reply from R.A. Nicholson. He writes that he is not in favour of copies of the translation being published without the manuscript but is happy for Minorsky to have, at his own expense, 50 offprints to distribute to those who would find it difficult or impossible to purchase copies.
