Letter from Eugène Burnouf to Brian Houghton Hodgson introducing Mr. Théroulde, a student of Sanskrit. Burnouf acknowledges the receipt of the copies of Sanskrit Buddhist manuscripts including a magnificent copy of Rakṣābhagavatī. The letter includes names of various famous Buddhist religious texts along with a discourse on Buddhism itself. Handwritten in French, 3 sides, dated 15 July 1837.

Letter from E.S.M Perowne to Colonel Hoysted, Secretary of Royal Asiatic Society, in which he recommends that the Committee opt for the better medal and case so that it might assume a greater importance. He suggests that the decision should rest with the President of the Society. An annotation shows that the President agreed with commissioning the better medal.

Letter from Edward S.M. Perowne, Solicitor, to Colonel Hoysted, Secretary of Royal Asiatic Society, in which he writes about the fire insurance and the Library grant before writing to agree that the Medal should be of the same standard of gold as previously, despite the increased cost. He finishes by writing about the British Italian League who will cease their let of the Society's premises in June of that year. Typed, dated 26 February 1932.
