A letter from Edward Walter Hutchinson to The Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society concerning Hutchinson's sequel to Adventurers in Siam in the Seventeenth Century , titled The Phaulkon Affair: an account of two ruined cities revisited . This was composed whilst being interned for a year in the British consulate in Saigon. Typed letter with handwritten annotations, written from on board the exchange vessel, Tatuta Mara, dated 31 August 1942

These include chapters written by Henri Bernard-Maitre under the titles: "Le père Ricci et les missions de Chine"; "Le père de nobili et les missions de l'Inde", "Les Missions de Chines Après 1644"; "La rencontre du padroado et du patronato: l'affrontement des méthodes"; and "Les réactions européennes a l'ouvre missionaire". A chapter written by E. Jarry under the title "La querelles des rites" is also included.

Copied (without correction of any trifling errors) from a register lent to me by the principal agent for the sale of these books. E.W.L". Handwritten, 4 sides. The introductory note bearing the title and an ending note about monetary equivalent in Sterling are in English. The list in Arabic.
