He then complains regarding a comment that Quaritch had forwarded made by Mr Schultz Wilson's who had commented on the commercial statistics of his poem, Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám. He has also been upset by a personal notice published in America and hopes that nothing similar would be published in England. Handwritten, 3 sides, dated 4 February 1876.

Fitzgerald writes that he does not know if he is at liberty to thank the article's author as his poem Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám, had been published anonymously. He writes of Max Müller's interesting lecture on the Sukhāvatīvyūha found in Japan. He requests that Hodgson search for a copy of the Dharmakośa (a copy of the commentary on this text by Yaśomitra was already available in Cambridge) and writes of Cowell's lecture to students on the Lalitavistara (Hodgson finally found the text of Dharmakośa compiled by Amritananda Bandya of Patan in Nepal and has been published by the Royal Nepal Academy).
