Letter from Edwin Arnold to Bernard Quaritch in which he introduces to Quaritch a Japanese professor travelling to study commercial chemistry at the University of Tokyo. He has with him a remarkable book – a complete Flora Japonica – which he wishes to sell. He asks Quaritch to advise the professor where he may find the most appreciative purchaser. Handwritten, with printed letterhead, 3 sides, dated 20 August 1899.

Panizzi, Chief Librarian, British Museum, in which Norris explains that the Royal Asiatic Society has been informed that a report has been produced for the British Museum on the cities of Southern Chaldaea. He is informed that the Society's members unanimously concur with this view and details of this have been sent to the Athenaeum and the Literary Gazette. (Found on page 232)
