Throughout its history the Royal Asiatic Society has made links with various universities. Perhaps most notable is that with the School of Oriental Studies (Now School of African and Oriental Studies), University of London, for which the Royal Asiatic Society had a representative on the Governing Body for many years. Material in these papers includes connections between the Royal Asiatic Society and the School for Oriental Studies, the University of Catania, Sicily, the Université Libre de Bruxelles, the University of Hong Kong, and the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Oxford.

Correspondence from the Université Libre de Bruxelles. This is:

• Letter from I. Jadoul, Université Libre de Bruxelles, to inform that the university has created a Centre for the South east of Asia. Typed with printed letterhead, 21 February 1961.
• "Centre du Sud-Est Asiatique" - information sheet about the centre. Typed in French.

Plaster cast of Sibthorp Medal presented by the Department of Plant Sciences, Oxford. The medal was first presented to Professor Dr H Walter Lack in 2001.

Covering letters and lists of the archives and papers of the British Association of Malaya being transferred to the Royal Commonwealth Society. These are:

• Letter from H.R. Bryon, Secretary, The British Association of Malaya, to the Librarian, Royal Asiatic Society, to send a preliminary list of the papers and documents which have contributed to the Association's History Archives up to February 1962. Dated 23 March 1962.
• "Documents and papers received for British Association of Malaya History Archives", 5 pages. This is annotated "Ackd 27.3.62".
• Compliment slip from the Secretary, The British Association of Malaya. This is annotated "Ackd 22 April 1963".
• "British Association of Malaya Historical Collection: Letters or articles on political or constitutional matters, memoirs and recollections about the Malay States, Singapore, Penang, Malacca and Sarawak kept in the Library of the Royal Commonwealth Society", 5 pages.

Correspondence regarding the institution of the Scottish Association for Asian Studies and the possible relationship between the Association and the Royal Asiatic Society. These are:

• "Scottish Association for Asian Studies" setting out the aims and proposed activities of the Association. This is undated. With it is a business card for L.P. Elwell-Sutton, Reader in Persian in the University of Edinburgh.
• Letter from Jack Grey, President, Scottish Association for Asian Studies, to Susan Skilliter, Lecturer in Turkish, University of Cambridge, to inform her that the Scottish Association had been formally set up and inquiring with regards to a possible alliance between the Association and the Royal Asiatic Society. Dated 28 February 1975.
• Letter from Susan Skilliter to Diana Crawford, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to send the letter concerning the Scottish Association for Asian Studies. Dated 13 March 1975.
• Letter from Diana Crawford, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society to Jack Grey, President, Scottish Association for Asian Studies, to inform that the Society would be glad to keep in touch with the Association. Dated 22 April 1975.

Letter from F.F. Arbuthnot, written on Royal Asiatic Society headed notepaper, to confirm that he will donate all of his books and his writing table which are currently in the Society's rooms to the Society in the event of his death. He will also donate the material associated with the Oriental Translation Fund currently housed at Park Street. He also writes that the Council of the Society would be free to deal with them as they see fit.

Letter from F.F. Arbuthnot, written on Royal Asiatic Society headed notepaper, to confirm that he will donate all the volumes of the Oriental translation Fund New Series including all the unbound volumes held at the printers, upon his death, with the hope they will be of benefit to the Society.

Letter from F.F. Arbuthnot to Miss Hughes, RAS Secretary, to send some things he found in his papers. He also asks for various items in connection with his work with the Oriental Translation Fund to be sent by book post to his home.

Letter from F.F. Arbuthnot to T.W. Rhys Davids, Secretary, Royal Asiatic Society, to ask him to lay before the Council the document enclosed concerning the abandoning of the revising of the Oriental Translation Fund via donation and subscription. He states his proposal for the Fund and attaches the Memorandum to be presented to the Council.
