He also discusses issues arising from the unwillingness of Turkish authorities to help in presenting Celebi's work for political reasons including his favorable depictions of Armenians and Kurds as well as the reality of his Ottoman identity which Allen feels clashes with the new more European identity contemporary Turks prefer to adopt.
