Raverty, first one dated 24 February 1863, rebuffing an article published by Lord Strangford, RAS President, in the Journal, which includes what Raverty regards as unjust remarks to him and his work on Pushtu (Pashto) grammar. The other two letters are both dated 16 May 1863, one (on blue paper) communicating his request to resign his membership, after finding out his reply to Lord Strangford's article is not to be published in the Journal, while the other one concerns the return of specimen of old Afghan writing and other writings.

Two letters from Georg Bühler to T.W. Rhys Davids, both written on the 31st August 1888. The first is a covering letter to Rhys Davids to suggest the name of a possible translator and to remind Rhys Davids about a poem described in the Catalogue that Bühler has been promised. The second letter, in response to a printed letter sets out details of work that might be translated under the patronage of the Royal Asiatic Society.
