Letter from Lancelot Wilkinson, Political Agent at Bhopal, to Brian Houghton Hodgson to thank him for his letter and the accompanying translation of the "Buddha disputation on Caste" which has amazed Wilkinson. The arguments expanded had angered Wilkinson's Pundit. He talks of other manuscripts and states that his own study has been guided by the principle of making them useful for the promotion of education and enquiry. He sends his [Shashces] Copy of the Jain inscription at Sanchees. He wishes to obtain a copy of Arya Bhats Siddhartha. Handwritten, 4 sides, dated 11 May 1835.

Letter from Lancelot Wilkinson, Political Agent at Bhopal, to Brian Houghton Hodgson in which he thanks Hodgson for sending a copy of the Wajra Soochi (Vajra-sūcī). Two or three scholars have taken copies. He wonders whether Hodgson would aid him in getting it printed and circulated. Wilkinson has just received an interesting work from a "native mathematical instrument maker and astronomer" - a Sanskrit version of the Elements of Euclid. He writes that the Begum and her nephew the Nawah are still at loggerheads. They have called a truce and the Lord has offered to negotiate terms of peace. Letter from Linnean Society of London to Brian Houghton Hodgson to notify him that he has been elected a Fellow of the Society. It also informs him of meeting times and subscriptions. On reverse is a letter from T. Booth, Secretary of the Society, to state that the fees paid by Nathaniel Wallich on Hodgson's behalf were not sufficient to cover the whole subscription. Letter from Captain Henry Harkness, Secretary to the Royal Asiatic Society, to Brian Houghton Hodgson to thank him for his generous donation of the manuscript scripture of Satasahasrikāprajnāpāramitā and his promise of further donations of various other Buddhist scriptures including the Navadharma from Nepal. The Council are in agreement with Hodgson on the Sanskrit language in which the Buddhist sages first committed their doctrines. Handwritten with printed letterhead, 3 sides, dated 24 January 1836.

Letter from Alexander Johnston, Vice-President of the Royal Asiatic Society, to Brian Houghton Hodgson to discuss Hodgson's intended publication on the zoology of Nepal. In addition there is a note in Hodgson's script listing names to whom he sent proposals or items. Handwritten, 6 + 1 sides, dated 6 July 1836.

Letter from Bulkeley Bandinel, Librarian of Bodleian Library, to Prof. H. H. Wilson to acknowledge receipt of the Sanskrit manuscripts sent by Hodgson to the Library with the stipulation that the Boden Professor of Sanskrit at Oxford [Wilson] be allowed to use the manuscripts at his residence with care and return them safely to the library after his use.
