Since its early years, the Society has maintained the tradition of proposing foreigners of eminent attainments, rank or situation, or persons who have rendered distinguished service towards the attainment of the objects of the Society, to be an Honorary Member. The total number of Honorary Members was for many years limited to thirty according to the Rules of the Society. When a vacancy opened up, primarily due to death of members, the Council would propose and invite selected individuals to fill up the vacancy.
This sub-series contains correspondence regarding invitation of Honorary Membership as well as further correspondence between the Society and its Honorary Members. Most of the 19th-century correspondence did not survive in the archives.
Correspondence between the Society and the following Honorary Fellows dating from 1960s to 1970s. These are mostly internal and outgoing letters concerning issue of diploma and membership invitation, with replies from the members. For some, there is accompanying material such as biographies, copies of press release, news clippings, postcards and obituaries.

The Society has, and continues to, run its membership on a subscription basis, with members paying different subscription rates according to their types of membership. Historically, the first payment of subscription was due on election, and then annually on the first date of January of each year. This series contains the bound volumes of ledgers recording these subscription payments from members. There is only one ledger dating to the 19th century, covering the period from 1823 to 1838. The remaining volumes date from 1924 to the late 20th century, and the volume for 1977-1988 is wanting.
